Use Scotch-Brite General Purpose Hand Pad 7447 for all kinds of materials and tasks. Our pads offer flexibility as well as effective cutting action and precise hand control, for consistently fine finishing results. They are especially useful for tricky cleaning jobs. Scotch-Brite Pads are used like grade 1 steel wool, but unlike steel wool, they do not fray during use, do not rust after use and do not leave fine metal chips. The non-woven, open web material is resistant to fulling and can be used dry, with water or with solvents. After use, it can be rinsed off again for reuse. Use our multi-purpose maroon pads in a variety of ways. They lie comfortably in the hand for precise control, but can also be used with a hand block for a uniform finish, or on an orbital sander for larger areas. Our pads consist of fine aluminium oxide abrasive grains that cut quickly and finely, leaving a smooth finished surface. Industrial professionals choose aluminium oxide because of its toughness, speed and longevity. The durable abrasive grain self-degrades during use so that new cutting edges are created all the time, unlike traditional abrasive grains, such as garnet, which wear out quickly during use. Apart from sanding and finishing, alumina is often used for polishing applications for its high cutting speed, hardness, strength and low heat retention. It is suitable for numerous substrates in both wood and metalworking, including ferroalloys. Scotch-Brite Industrial Abrasives are unique surface conditioning products in which abrasive grains are mixed with non-woven nylon or other synthetic fibres. This creates an abrasive system that delivers consistent results over the life of the product. The open web material is full web resistant and keeps the abrasive minerals performing at a high level by reducing fibre clogging.
